Neurogenin 3-positive progenitor cells are increased in PRMT1-deficient adult small intestine. A Neurogenin 3 situ hybridization to detect enteroendocrine progenitor cells in small intestinal sections from PRMT1indΔIEC and PRMT1fl/fl littermates at day 14 after the first tamoxifen injection as diagramed in Fig. 1A. Right panels showed enlarged photo of the boxed area in the left panels. The Neurogenin 3-positive cells were stained red, DNA was stained blue with DAPI, and plasma membrane was stained white with an E-cadherin antibody. Note that Neurogenin3+ cells were located exclusively in the crypts and were much more abundant in PRMT1indΔIEC crypts. B Quantification of Neurogenin3+ cells showed that PRMT1 deletion significantly increased enteroendocrine progenitor cells. Multiple sections per animal were analyzed for each group.
